Project Overview

The Greenhouse of Orange is a relaxed and unique dining destination, sourcing and showcasing the best food and wine from the Central West community of New South Wales. In 2017 I was tasked with creating their online presence.

Concept

The Greenhouse of Orange takes pride supporting local suppliers. By showcasing locally-inspired food and beverage, unique activities, memorable functions and live music. The site was previously a much loved lawn bowls club and the new establishment was much anticipated within the community. The aim was to draw on the rich local history and appeal to the overall community as The Greenhouse of Orange needed to appeal to people of all ages and demographics.

First Steps

As The Greenhouse was a new establishment I decided the home page needed to touch on all focus areas. Top of the page features a slider announcing the opening of the venue. Just as importantly a slide calling on local suppliers was also featured.

Thumbnail sketches of the proposed layout were supplied to the client and approved. Providing thumbnail sketches is often a great way to gain a clients trust and confidence as they can then share the same vision as the designer.

Execution

I sectioned off the home page to draw focus to The Greenhouses main features. That being the various functions and special events rooms. Different types of food, entertainment and special events like Oktoberfest, the Melbourne Cup and live entertainment are regularly featured on the blog so I also featured a feed of the latest news from The Greenhouse blog.

Each of the function rooms has a contact form, image gallery and a booking calendar. The blog and all other pages feature a side bar widget area with useful information such as opening hours and social media feeds.

Social Media and Email Design

Once the website look and feel was established I then rolled out the new creative to Facebook cover page, event cover images, Mail Chimp template and print advertising.

Results

With a looming opening date The Greenhouse of Orange website was delivered on time. With great community expectation the creative concept had to be on target, function well and offer a welcoming feeling. With a hand made aesthetic drawing on the local area’s rich farming history The Greenhouse of Orange has established itself as the centre piece of Orange and its surrounding areas as food, wine and entertainment.
